Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
Blurb by Anne Schultz
Practical Magic is an unearthly story about two sisters who come from a family that is blamed for all the unfortunate occurrings in their Massachusetts town. When disaster strikes, the bond between the sisters that seems to pull them farther apart, happens to pull them closer together.
Sally and Gillian Owens have lived with their aunts all their life. They listen to all the woman that show up at the door cry to the aunts to fix their heartache. This is when Sally and Gillian promice to never go crazy for love. But when Gillian grows older, all the guys are trapped by her beauty. This makes it almost impossible for Gillian not to fall in love.
When the perfect guy eventually comes along, Gillian decides to run off with him and away from the Aunt's house. This just may be the biggest mistake of her life.
The story drags on and on about how Gillian travels the US with a new man every week. And when Gillian makes a mistake that could result in the rest of her life in jail, she runs to her sister that seems to be a part of another life.
The two sisters then have to figure out how to solve the problem that Gillian created, but there are some road blocks along the way that are hard to overcome.
This story concludes with nothing special, but the two Owens sisters finally discover true love, and that completes the fairy tale of the story.
