Hattie Owens a normal 12 year old girl who says that it is the first time she has stepped out of her corner of the universe. Her small town life is interrupted when her uncle who has mental illness steps into her life. When the carnival comes into town she meets a very good friend Leah. The night she took Adam to the carnival was a scary night for her on the farris wheel with him. Adam is picked on my everyone including the people in the boarding house. This is a great story of friendship and love and will warm your heart.
