The Bad Beginning

If you enjoy stories that fill us with unsurpassed beauty and happy endings, I am sorry to say that that if you picked this book you are picking out the wrong book entirely. For this book has no happy ending. Even though the Baudelaire children are quick-witted and clever their lives are filled with misery and woe. In this book they encounter a horrible villain, itchy clothes, and cold porridge. If you do not have the guts to read such a book, it would be best if you find another book to read unless you dare to read this tragic tale.

Dogsong by Gary Paulsen

Dogsong is a good kind of survival book. I would recommend this book to a type of outdoors kind of person. It is about a boy named Russel who is tired of waking up every morning to his dad coughing and hearing the sound of snowmobiles. He leaves his house and goes to a guy's house whose name is Oogruck. Oogruck is a very old fasion kind of guy. He wants the world to be like it was in the old days, without snowmobiles or guns. He said that when someone killed an animal, it was because they wanted to die. When you kill them with guns, they don't really have a choice to die. He also said that when you killed a animal you would have a song that you would sing. Russel wanted to learn what his song was.

He started off on his journy to live off the land. He didn't ride a snowmobile, he had a dog sled. The weapon he used was a bow an arrow and a harpoon. Then after awhile on his journey, he started having some dreams about a guy with a beard and long hair. After awihle in his first dream, Russel realized that he was the guy in his dream. The first dream involved wolves attacking him, but eventually he killed them and ate them. The second dream was about a mamoth that he killed and ate. After every time he killed an animal Russel in his dream would start singing a song. Russel didn't know the words, but he knew what they meant. eventually that became his song that he would sing in real life.

Loser

The book I read was Loser. I would recommend it to people who are not feeling so confident. The reason I say this is because once you see what Donald Zinkoff's life is like, it will make you feel alot better.
Loser is about a kid who never wins. Everything hedoes, he loses. At first, he or anyone else dosen't notice that he loses at eveything. He loves school. Homeschooled until first grade, Donald (or as every calls his by his last name Zinkoff) never really had any friends. Eventually, he found some. His first friend he got was in first grade. His name was Andrew. When he moved, Zinkoff didn't really have any friends until forth grade. His teacher gave him a end of the year test. One of the questions was "who is your best friend. Zinkoff realized that he did not have a best friend. Then he thought of someone. His name was Harry and he was very weird. That friendship didn't last very long. Later on in the book, he found Andrew again. He was in his grade and became popular and athletic. Then winter came. Zinkoff loved the winter. He loved sleding and snowball fights. One day he was playing in a snow ball fight and got done a little late. When he was walking back to his house, he saw a ambulance and a cop car. He found out that a little girl was missing that was his old friend when he was yonger. When he noticed that she was gone, he looked for her. Well actually, he looked for her for seven hours in the freezing cold. Eventually a truck driver saw him and took him back to is house. When he got home his parents were woried sick. Then his parents told him that they found the girl and the ambulance and the police were actually looking for him. The next day when he went to school he was waiting to be picked for basketball at recess. The two people who were captians were the most athletic people in their grade. One of them was Andrew. As usaual, Zinkoff was one of the last ones left. Normaly he wouldn't get chosen, but he was because Andrew was curious of what is was like during that seven hours of searching for the little girl, and he became a winner.

Last Olympian

This is the last book in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. It is based around the time we are today and is about the Greek Gods being real. While I was reading this I couldn't put it down. It was exciting every second. This book is about the final attack on Olympus from Kronos. Kronos has a way bigger army, Typhon, A huge monster that almost destroyed the gods, and is turning to his true form slowly. Percy and the other halfbloods and creatures have to help defend Olympus from the constant attacks from Kronos's army. The gods are to busy fighting off Typhon to help leaving them to fight the army alone. Kronos is bringing back anchient monsters that destroyed everything when they were alive. There are many tricks and creatures that he fights Percy with. Percy will finds out secrets about his friends and figures out Luke's, A halfblood who went to Kronos's side, past. This was a great book i couldn't keep down and was always thinking of. I highly recomend this book to any readers.

Shooter by Walter Dean Myers

Shooter by Walter Dean Myers is easily in my top ten favorite books I have ever read. Just like most other Walter Dean Myers books, Shooter is written in a very unorthodox fashion.
Shooter doesn't really have a plot, just a series of important events that lead you to the final crime. Throughout all of the book until the end, it is just records of police interviews to the survivors involved in the crime. With all of the interviews strung together, you start to form a picture of the crime in your head, and finally, at the end of the book, it gives the final interview when you find out what really happens. By then, you are dying to find out what happens!
Shooter really shows how insane someone can get because of pain, torture, and bullying at school and is a very addicting book to read. Once you start, you can't put it down. I highly recommend reading this book!

Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Walter Dean Myers usually likes to write his books in a different assortment of ways. Not surprising, this book, Monster, is exactly that. Monster is about a boy in his late teens who is arrested for a being a lookout for a drug store theft. He writes his about his thoughts and everything around him in a "journal." It sounds normal but he actually writes it all in a movie script format, which makes this book very interesting.
It takes a little bit of time to get into this book, but once you do, it is very addicting. All of the events and flash backs in the story lead up to the final jurisdiction of the boy. Monster really lets you look at a prisoner's point of view during a trial, and it really opens your eyes.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something different and new, instead of a normal book.

The Lovely Bones

Hey all readers! I'm here to tell you about one of my favorite books, The Lovely Bones- by Alice Sebold.
This emotional book is about a 14 year old girl named Susie Salmon-like the fish- who is murdered.
Now, the catch about this book, is that it's in Susie's point of view. So you get to read about her new home in heaven, and learn what her family is up to.
Susie's sister, Ashley, is finding a romance with a boy named Samuel. While at the same time, Ray Singh, Susie's old boyfriend, is smitten with Ruth. You get to experience the lifetime of her little brother, Buckley, of 4, and see where his troubles take him.
Watching Mr. Harvey was my favorite part. The mysterious man is so good at hiding the evidence, that you will just want to scream, because it's always right in front of the characters faces!
Watching the scenery and characters grow and change definitely relates to real life, of emotional and mysterious deaths.
This book gives such an image, you'll never want to put it down---it's such a catch!
Now, you may be thinking that I've given things away, but trust me, I haven't. Because of Susie's point of view, you get to know everything that is going on, it's like your the one that was murdered, that's not freaky at all...! You''ll love this book, I hope as much as I did!
The book is always better

Walk Two Moons

Hey, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is a very interesting, meaningful novel, and I think you should give it a shot!

Sal, the narrator, goes on a journey with her grandparents to visit her mothers burial ground. Along the way Sal tells her grandparents about her best friend, Phoebe Winterbottom, whose mother, like Sal's, unexpectedly decides to leave home.

Sal tells her story with strength and humor. Sal and her grandparents continue on with their trip to reach Idaho, where Sal's mom lies dead. Throughout the trip they experience many encounters and Sal continues on with her story of her best friend. This book is very sad, emotional ending, but is definately worth reading.

The Last Olympian

If you like adventure books with dry humor and minimal romance, then I highlyrecomend"The Last Olympian" by Rick Riordan is definitely the book for you!

The final book in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series is, I think, the best book in the series. My resoning to back this up is that it has more intense action than the first four but there is still Rick Riordians normal humor. Percy Jackson was a normal kid but then he went through a series of events leading up to him making a choice to save or destroy the world as he knows it as well as fighting for his and his friends/ relatives ( their all half bloods/ half human half god).
This is a definite page turner.

The other books in this series are:
#1: The Lightning Theif
#2: The Sea of Monsters
#3: The Titans Curse
#4: The Battle of the Labyrinth

Dinotopia - Rescue Party, by Mark A. Garland

Dinotopia - Rescue Party, is a book in the series based on DINOTOPIA by James Gurney, published in 1992. Dinotopia is a hidden island, where dinosaurs and shipwrecked humans have joined together to build their own world.

In this book, Loro is a free spirited teenager. He wants to be the first person to see the Skybax land and to greet the rider. He spends many days on the platform just waiting for the shadow to go over him. On one particular day a storm is brewing. After a horrible storm, Loro and his friends notice a balloon go over the dangerous jungles of Rainy Basin. They knew they had to save the rider of the balloon. So they sneak away to the dangerous jungle of Rainy Basin and go on a rescue mission. But with Loro as the leader, they may have a few run-ins with some very, very dangerous ceatures. Read this book to find out what they encounter and if they will make it back safely.

One of the interesting things about this series is that the books are written by many different authors. Mark Garland, who wrote this one is an avid science fiction fan and has written two Star Trek novels.

To save the world, they must defeat the Haunted Eye, save the green man, and have him see the first light. If the Haunted Eye sees the first light of spring, 1,000 years of darkness will occur. From my opinion, the Hate Master is a giant coyote, possibly twice the size of Mrs. Wizner! Their mission, if they choose to accept it, is to defeat the Hate Master and save the stone man. Who is the stone man? Read this book to find out!

Other books in this series include:

fighting.

As the sequel of "The City Of Bones" this book had a lot to live up to, and to me, it did. In this thriller you get more of the action you got in the "City of Bones", only with a different, and more exiting in my opinion, plot and a different setting. Clary is a half shadow hunter girl but she is more than just that.

The Third book in this series is "City of Glass" the firs book was the "City of Bones
