Freaky Green Eyes

The book Freaky Green Eyes by Joyce Oates is a great read.
Francesca, Franky for short is uncomfortable with her red hair and her freaky green eyes. Her relationships with her friends are not heading in a good direction and her parents are constantly fighting. Franky overcomes her "freaky" appearance by putting it to good use. She convinces herself that she is fine just the way she is. Now that that issue is resolved the issue of her parents is getting much worse. It gets to the poing where Franky's mother moves to a house in Skagit Harbor. She loves it there and although she says she just needs a place to do her art, Franky knows she went there to get away from her father. When Reid (Franky's father) finally allows her to go visit her mother she loves it. It is so peaceful and the people there are all so nice. Franky now faces the problem to choose which parent she would like to live with. When she just about had her answer, her mother gets reported missing. The only thing left so far of Franky's mom is her journal. Francesca finds out a lot more about her mom than she ever new. This just might be the key to finding her mother.
Another book by this author is After the Wreck, I Picked Myself Up, Spread My Wings, and Flew Away.
