"The Promise" is a story about the most famous holocaust survior's struggle to stay alive during World War II, told in the point of view of she herself, Eva Schloss, along with help from a close friend named Barbara Powers.
During Eva's early days, she lived a normal life just like everyone else. Until the Nazis invaded Austria and forced Pappy (her father), Mutti (her mother), Heinz (her brother), and her to flee to nearby Holland and then to Amsterdam.
The family lived in peace for a while until the Nazis invaded again. This time the family had to seperate so Heinz and Pappy went to one place to hide, and Mutti and Eva went to another place. They all had to live in hiding for a few months until someone ratted them out and they were all sent into chaos.
This is a very strong book with a very good meaning. I highly suggest you read it. You can visit Eva Schloss' website at http://www.evaschloss.com/index.htm. She currently does not have any other books but this one is amazing.
